Packaging by Industry

A food business rarely buys one packaging item. It buys a set: the box, the bag it goes into, the cup beside it, the napkin and the wrap, and the trouble usually starts where two items meet. The pages below map a typical menu and its service channels, from counter and dine-in to drive-thru and delivery, to the packaging each item needs, and link to the product pages that hold the specifications. They are written for chains, franchise groups and independent operators sourcing printed packaging for Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, the UK, the wider EU and the US.

Industry packaging guides

Packaging for burger restaurants

For QSR burger chains, fast-casual and gourmet burger groups, dark kitchens and franchise groups. The page maps the ten to thirty items a full-menu burger operation buys, from the burger box or wrap to fries cartons, sauce cups, cups, carriers, bags and napkins, and explains what changes between dine-in, drive-thru and delivery.

Packaging for pizzerias and pizza delivery

For pizza chains, franchise groups and delivery-led brands where most orders travel. The box is the structural item, so the page starts with box size, flute and venting, then covers crust quality in delivery, sides, dips and desserts, and the bags, drinks and napkins around them.

Packaging for bakeries and bakery chains

For multi-branch bakeries that sell bread in the morning, food-to-go at lunch and cakes in the afternoon. The page covers bread, roll and pastry bags (usually the largest volume), greaseproof sheets, cake and doughnut boxes, and the cups, napkins and carrier bags, all branded consistently across kraft, board and tissue.

Packaging for coffee shops and café chains

For coffee chains and franchise groups, bakery-cafés, office and campus caterers, and roasters selling beans. A café runs a cup programme first, so the page focuses on hot and cold cup ranges, linings, marking and EU reuse duties, then covers sleeves, carriers, pastry bags, soup cups, napkins and retail bean pouches.

Not listed here?

Other food businesses can go straight to the product pages; their packaging needs are covered there without a separate industry page.

Operators running several sites, or a franchise, should also read packaging for restaurant chains and franchises, which covers specification control, rollout and supply across locations.

Next step

When you have listed the items on your menu and the channels you serve, the packaging RFQ guide shows how to turn that list into a quotation request. Then contact us with the set you need and the markets where it will be used.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a different packaging supplier for each item in my set?

No. Many operators source bags, boxes, wraps, cups and napkins from one or two suppliers to keep brand colours and reorders consistent. Each item is still specified on its own terms, because board, tissue, cupstock and film print differently and need different checks.

My business combines a café and a bakery. Which page should I read?

Read both. The bakery page covers bread and pastry bags, greaseproof sheets and cake boxes; the coffee shop page covers the cup programme, sleeves, carriers and reuse duties. The two sets overlap on cups, napkins and carrier bags, so specify those once for both operations.

Do industry pages apply to independent restaurants as well as chains?

Yes. The item-by-item packaging sets are the same for a single site and a chain. Chains add concerns about consistency across sites, rollout timing and franchise approval, which the chain packaging guide covers separately.
