Custom Printed Cups and Food Containers

Coffee chains, QSR operators, bakery-cafés and salad, soup or dessert concepts usually buy custom paper cups and food containers as one programme, because the cups and the round bowls are formed from the same coated cupstock and printed to the same brand standard.

This category splits that programme into four product pages: paper drinks cups, round food containers, the sleeves and carriers that go with the cups, and plastic cups for cold drinks. Start with what the customer is holding: a drink, a portion of food, or several drinks at once, and whether the drink is hot or cold.

9 Packaging is a B2B printed packaging manufacturer and exporter based in Istanbul, Türkiye, with experience supplying fast-food and chain-style foodservice operators.

Custom Printed Paper Cups

Printed single, double and ripple wall cups for hot drinks, and cold cups for soft drinks and iced coffee, typically from about 4 to 20 oz. Buyers decide five things up front: wall construction, barrier lining (PE, aqueous dispersion or PLA), the size range and lid family, the print route, and the marking each destination market requires.

Custom Printed Plastic Cups

Clear and printed PET and PP cups for cold drinks: iced coffee, smoothies, bubble tea, juice and soft drinks, usually with dome or flat lids. Buyers are juice and smoothie bars, bubble tea and dessert concepts, QSR chains and event caterers. The key decision is the material (PET, PP, rPET or PLA), which sets clarity, heat tolerance and the recycling route, followed by the size and lid family, the print method, and the single-use plastics rules of each destination market.

Custom Printed Cup Sleeves and Cup Carriers

Printed corrugated or embossed board sleeves that insulate single wall cups, and moulded fibre, board or corrugated carriers for two- to multi-cup orders. The key decision is whether a sleeve on demand costs less per serve than an insulated cup, and whether one sleeve and one carrier can fit your whole cup range.

Custom Printed Paper Food Containers

Round, tapered cupstock containers for wet and hot food: salad and poke bowls, soup cups, hot food bowls, ice cream cups and tubs, snack pots and portion cups. The decision that matters most is the barrier on each side of the board for the food, its temperature and holding time, followed by lid choice and the rules on plastic-lined containers in each market.

Custom paper cups, containers or accessories: which page do you need?

Use the table to route your requirement. If the product holds food rather than a drink, it is a container even if it looks like a cup.

The paper or plastic question for cold drinks comes down to display and rules. A clear PET or PP cup shows the drink and holds up to long contact with ice and cream, while a paper cold cup carries more print area and avoids a plastic-lined look. Plastic cups sit under the single-use plastics rules in the EU and the UK, which the single-use plastic cup rules guide sets out, so check the destination market before committing to a format.

Cups and carriers also need to fit the bag they travel in; for delivery orders, check the carrier footprint against your custom printed takeaway bags.

Pick the product page and work through its specification checklist. Cups and containers share board and print standards, so quoting them together is often simpler: prepare your request with the packaging RFQ guide and send your sizes, lid requirements and artwork.

Frequently asked questions

Can paper cups and food containers be printed to match each other?

Yes. Both are formed from printed cupstock, so the same colour standard can be applied across cups, soup cups and bowls. Matching is easiest when the board shade (white or kraft) and print method are the same for both; plan the colour approval on the actual board rather than on screen proofs.

Is a paper soup cup the same as a large hot drinks cup?

No. They look similar but are built for different jobs. Soup containers are usually wider, often lined on both sides, and paired with vented food lids, while drinks cups are sized and rimmed to fit drink lids. Using a drinks cup for soup tends to cause lid and leak problems.

Do I need sleeves if I order double wall cups?

Usually not. A double or ripple wall cup already insulates the whole sidewall, so a sleeve adds cost without much benefit. Sleeves make sense with single wall cups, especially when only part of the hot drinks range needs insulation or when you want campaign print without changing the cup.

Which product page covers lids?

Paper drinks cup lids and their rim fit are covered on the paper cups page and its size guide. Lids for PET and PP cups are covered on the plastic cups page and its size guide. Lids for bowls, soup cups and ice cream tubs are covered on the paper food containers page and the container lid guide, because food lids differ in venting, depth and material.
