Custom Printed Food Wrap and Papers

This category holds the printed papers that go round food or under it. Wrapping papers cover burgers, sandwiches, deli items, fish and chips and kebabs, plus the liners that sit in baskets. Tray liners and placemats cover the serving tray itself and double as a branded menu or promotion surface.

Buyers are mostly burger, sandwich, bakery, canteen and street-food operators, plus the distributors who supply them, and they usually start from one question: does the paper touch the food directly, or does it sit under the tray?

Custom Printed Greaseproof Paper

The full specification hub for printed wraps and basket liners, usually on 28-45 gsm greaseproof or grease-resistant paper with an all-over repeat print. It covers the material choice (true greaseproof, coated grease-resistant, PE-laminated, wax or foil), grease resistance ratings, sheet sizes and rolls, food-safe printing and the PFAS-free specification.

Custom Printed Tray Liners and Placemats

Printed sheets cut to cover a serving tray or table setting, from greaseproof and kraft to offset and coated papers, in standard sheet sizes, rounded corners or custom shapes. Buyers are QSR and burger chains, canteens and cafeterias, café and restaurant groups. The key decision is the paper, which sets how much of the tray the print can cover and how it behaves when wet, followed by the size and shape that fit the tray and then the print method.

Wrap or tray liner: which do you need?

Start with where the paper sits. If it is folded round the food or lines a basket, it is a wrap and belongs with greaseproof paper. If it covers the tray or table and carries a menu, offer or pattern, it is a tray liner or placemat.

Two cases cause most confusion. A paper laid under food on a tray can look like a wrap, but if it is sized to the tray and meant to be read, it is specified as a tray liner, usually on a different paper from a thin wrap. And a burger chain often needs both, a greaseproof wrap in the hand and a printed liner on the tray, so the two are normally quoted together even though they are specified separately.

A wrap or liner quotation is only comparable when every supplier prices the same paper, sheet size and print coverage. The packaging RFQ guide lists what to send, and you can send your sheet or tray sizes and artwork when the brief is ready.

Frequently asked questions

Is food wrap the same thing as greaseproof paper?

Not exactly. Greaseproof paper is the most common printed food wrap, but wraps can also be coated grease-resistant paper, PE-laminated paper, wax-treated deli paper or foil laminates. The greaseproof paper hub compares all of them and explains which suits hot, wet or dry food.

What is the difference between a basket liner and a tray liner?

A basket liner is a thin food-contact sheet cut to sit inside a basket or plate and is specified with wraps on the greaseproof paper page. A tray liner is sized to cover a whole serving tray, is meant to be read as well as to protect, and is specified on the tray liners and placemats page, often on heavier offset, kraft or coated paper.

Should a sandwich go in a wrap or a bag?

Use a wrap when the sandwich is folded tightly and eaten from the paper, and a bag, often a window bag, when it is displayed at a counter or carried unwrapped. Many sandwich chains use both, with the wrap inside and the bag for carrying.

Can printed wraps and tray liners be matched in one design?

Yes, burger and sandwich chains often run one pattern across the wrap and the tray liner. The two use different papers, a thin greaseproof sheet for the wrap and a heavier paper for the liner, so the same artwork looks slightly different on each and colour approval is done on the actual paper.
